Here is my dilema....I have all active speakers, Mackie Hr824 for R&L, Mackie Hr626 center, and just recently bought four Tapco S5 active speakers for surrounds (made by Mackie) so that I can upgrade to 7.1. My problem is that I dont want to spend the money for a high end reciever if I dont need the large amps they usually have built in. Even my subs have separate amps. What can I use that will have all of the tunabilty as the high end recievers without built in amps? All I really need is clear signal and a complete set of pre outs.

You need a pre-pro, or Pre-amplifier/processor. These are boxes that do all the digital processing and sound control but have no internal amps. They're meant to be used with external amplifiers. They're fairly high end items and thus are more expensive than typical mid-fi receivers.

Try posting your question in the Receivers/amplifiers/separates section.
