i am wanting to buy a projector for my home theater. i have
narrowed my choices down to the nec ht1000 and the sanyo plv
70.is there anyone who owns either one of these or has seen
them in a side by side comparison? i am wanting to shoot the
image about 12 to 16 feet and light will not be an issue.i will be using it mainly to watch dvd's and hdtv.also i would
like to use a screen size between 100" and 110" diag.please
help me to choose which one has the best image.any comments
about the pros or cons of each would be helpful.thank you.

I haven't seen either one, but this is an LCD versus DLP choice. This one you should definitely try and see for yourself before you plunk down your $4-5 thousand.

Some people are sensitive to rainbows, some (me and especially my wife) are sensitive to LCD screendoor. You should really try and check out each, even if they are different projector models to see what you can live with.

Yes, this can be an LCD vs a DLP choice but for me, the real choice is between a 16x9 setup vs a 4x3 setup.

I've found that the screendoor effect is never a problem at any reasonable viewing distance. Do DLP PJ's at this price range still have the rainbow problem? If so, that is unacceptable. I know higher end models have wheels that spin so fast that there is no rainbow problem.

yes, i agree that this is a matter of lcd vs. dlp, screendoor, rainbow, and 16x9 vs. 4x3.that is why i posted
my thread.i would rather have a 16x9 set-up, little or no
screendoor, little or no rainbow, and no dust causing
problems with the picture.i am aware that the ht1000 is a
natural 4x3 but can produce a 16x9 picture. does it do it
with little or no picture degragration? that is my question. does it produce rainbow's unbearable to handle?
can it produce a picture larger than 100" diag. and still
look good. does the plv70 have screendoor that is annoying?
does it have problems with getting dusty so often that you
are constantly cleaning it? these are all questions that
i am looking to have answered. there surely must be someone
that owns or has studied these two projectors that can
answer these questions. reviews i have read about both
projectors indicate that they both are very good.but i want
someone that knows first hand to confirm the pro's and con's of both.thank you.
