This makes me sad...
My favorite show on the tube, and it gets yanked. I really hope they return it to it's former time slot.
Aw man. This is such a good show -- we're maybe halfway through season 1 here. Shame.
Sounds like what happens to most good shows like...what was that one with Tom Sizemore last year on CBS?
Can't the networks cut the Friday and Saturday night shows some slack? Shows on those nights need a little more time to breathe.
I think the issue is that CBS is basically handing NBC its ass on Friday night - Joan Of Arcadia is crushing Miss Match and The Handler is doing pretty well. It's not so much that shows can't succeed on Friday night - the show Boomtown replaced, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, did very well indeed - it's that two shows looking for the same audience in the same slot can have a tough row to hoe. As for Boomtown specifically, I've got no idea where to put it other than back on Sunday at 10pm, but then you've got to find a place for The Lyon's Den (perhaps Tuesday at 10pm, with SVU moving back to Friday). There's really no other 9pm or later slot where NBC doesn't have something established without another cop show on a different network. As much as I like the procedural form, I think the airwaves may be saturated.
I really liked RHD too...or as I liked to have called it: "Heat: The Series"
This seems like a break for Miss Match- aren't a lot of its fans also viewers of Joan of Arcadia? Plus, Bravo only shows each Queer Eye episode a few times a week, so this gives more chance to see it.
Why have SVU on twice a week when it's also on USA about 20 times a week? Couldn't they move Boomtown to Tuesday nights?
What's on NBC and USA aren't connected...yet. The one on Friday will be a rerun from past seasons, most likely. Showing that rerun there is just sort of punting the time period - they have to show something, but that doesn't mean they're going to spend any money to do so. If they moved Boomtown to Tuesday, it would probably get crushed by NYPD Blue; its fanbase is loyal but not yet large enough for Boomtown to go head-to-head against something in the same general genre.
That's just great two episodes and it gets yanked. What do they expect with Dateline as a lead in. Why does'nt NBC just create 5 more Law and Order series there's certainly not enough of them on the air right now.
Everytime I get my VCRs all set up, they pull this crap. You'd think they were pissed off about me skipping commercials.
I sent an angry e-mail to NBC but I don't expect anything.
There's a story on Zap2It, mostly focusing on what this shuffle means for Miss Match, stating that NBC is saying it's just a three-week hiatus and that when Boomtown comes back, it may not be on Friday nights. It's not like this is a wholly negative development.
I fear American Dreams will be next to go- it's getting crushed on Sunday nights, and the Fox shows haven't even come back yet.
Eh, American Dreams is probably safe for now; a family-oriented show trading on nostalgia is probably more vulnerable to baseball than its competition, and NBC's probably smart enough to realize that.
Here's an idea NBC: change the title to LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL BOOMTOWN UNIT
