I love the NBA. Major League Baseball has always been my favorite, but for me, the NBA comes in a close 2nd place. I'm a huge fan of the New York Knickerbockers, who haven't won the NBA Championship since the 1973 season. Coming off a successful 2023-2024 season and with the recent acquisitions of Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, I am full of optimism as the new 2024-2025 NBA season approaches.

The NBA Pre-Season begins in a couple of days on October 4th. So, who are your favorite players? Who are your favorite teams? Who do you predict will be the NBA champions this season?

Discuss anything and everything NBA right here!

Bud Grant was the Head Coach of my favorite NFL team, Minnesota Vikings.
Before that he played for the Minneapolis Lakers 1949-51.
Help them win a Championship in 1950.

A long-suffering Knicks fan that last celebrated a Knicks championship while in high school. The problem with that celebration is that it happened 51 years ago. I wish them better health so we can at least get out of the second round of playoffs.

I first got into basketball around the time that the Knicks won their first championship in 1971. Their style of play and their lineup made them one of my favorite teams from that era with players such as Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Bill Bradley, Dave Debusschere, and Phil Jackson. Adding Earl 'the Pearl' Monroe to the team helped them achieve a second championship in 1973. While I didn't play organized basketball, I played a lot of playground ball and attempting to emulate Frazier and Monroe was part of that experience. I stress the word 'attempt'. :)

During the '70s I religiously watched ABC's weekend basketball telecasts and also got into NCAA basketball. I've been following basketball ever since with a variety of teams and stars holding my interest over the years.

Wow- I didn’t know Grant played in the NBA.

On the subject of teams gone by, the 1982-
1983 76ers were great- Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney (before his foot problems), Dr. J, and Moses. Bobby Jones was the defensive stud. One of the best single season teams in league history- won 65 games, and was 12-1 in the playoffs, sweeping the Lakers in the finals. The last time the Sixers won.

Yes I know, lots of baseball, football and hockey to watch. But in case that's not enough the NY Knicks begin their Pre-Season in Charlotte, NC tonight vs. the Hornets. It will be the first chance to see Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns as NY Knicks. It's being broadcast on NBATV and the MSG Network @ 5pm EST.

Tonight @ 6pm EST the NY Knicks host the Minnesota Timberwolves @ Madison Square Garden in the first pre-season meeting of these teams since their blockbuster trade two weeks ago.

The game will be broadcast on the MSG Network and ESPN nationally.

Dolan still owns the Knicks, right? Does he keep hiring the wrong brass, or is he meddlesome about the team, like Jerry Jones?

Yes he does. Simply hiring the right folks making the right trades.

I'm sure the Knicks want to make a definitive statement tonight vs. the Celtics right from the get go.

I think he's finally learned his lesson. He has in place now a front office team that knows what they're doing and he's staying out of the way except for signing the checks.:)

Which is why I said they need good luck plus some.;). Seriously, it’s going to take 20-25 games before this roster gets their footing. A lot of new players.
I completely agree. I was thinking just that while watching last night. I also wondered how many folks would be hitting the panic button after only one game.

I'm not sure it's panic time after one game, but it was a pretty pathetic opening by a team that's been talked up as the main rival to the Celtics in the East. They're going to have to get a lot better than that.
