If you were stranded on an island and somebody granted you 10cds from your collection and a "Discman", what albums would you choose?
Here are mine, in no particular order:
1. Radiohead - "The Bends" My first and fav RH album.
2. Radiohead - "Pablo Honey"
Odd choice as far as critical acclaim is concerned. But I can't really hit fast forward on this disc.
3. Lush - "Split"
This is the disc that made me a shoegazer. Dark, ethereal, haunting, depressing. Inspired me to take up photography.
4. Delerium - "Karma"
Essential electronica. So lush and organic. Not experimental/ambient like their earlier work, not the commercial/radio friendly fluff that I got after the duo split.
5. Nada Surf - "Proximity Effect"
Clever lyrics, college/nerd rock at its best
6. The Cranberries - "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We"
They never reached these lofty heights again.
7. Marilyn Manson - "Lest We Forget"
Manson has too many good songs. Had to the pick the best of.
8. Placebo - "Without You I'm Nothing"
9. Pet Shop Boys - "Pop Art"
Again, PSB has too many goodies, so I have to take as many on one disc as I can This one's actually two discs, so I'm cheating a bit. Otherwise, I'll take "Discography"
10. Tegan and Sara - "So Jealous"
Best disc I bought in 2004, by a landslide. Saw them live last week. It's indie pop perfection.
