Anyone have any opinions as to whether it's worth the extra bucks to buy the NAD 762/3 over the NAD 752/3?

    Depends what you need.

For me, the one feature that I absolutely HAD to have was preamp out/power amp in on ALL channels. IIRC the 752 only has that on the L/C/R.

I use a HT EQ (AudioControl Bijou) so that feature was essential.

Besides that, I am not really sure what the other major differences are.

They all have the same exact processing power and the 752 comes with 5 channels only. You will need an outboard amp for the extra 6th/7th channel. The newer receivers have added HDCD decoding but are pretty much the same. I am currently trying a 752 as a prepro with teriffic results and no problems that plagued the earlier receivers.

The 762 has HDCD, I know the 752 didn't, so does the 753? I don't even see the 753 on NAD's site, in fact, I can't find it for sale, so I'm not entirely sure that it exists.

Basically what I've heard about the 763 is that it has a somewhat better analog section (the early production 762s were MISERABLE, I had one, the newer ones are pretty good). I would say I'm happy with my 762, but I haven't heard a 763, so who knows. Also, they're supposedly updatable through the serial port now. Which makes me wonder why my 762 even has one. Oh, well.

    Daryl,

This depends on what you're using it for. The 762 has the following over the 752:

    -6 powered channels (752 is 5) at 100wpc (752 is 80)
    -HDCD decoding
    -Zone two capability
    -Torodial power transformer
-The 762 has a larger chasis probably due to the extra amp and torodial transformer

That's about all I can think of, but I hear that both units are pretty indistinguishable soundwise in a small/medium sized room.
