center channel. i know that speaker works b/c it plays sound on dvd's. but splinter cell, which says it has dolby digital, no sound comes out of the front center speaker. same thing with halo and metal gear solid substance 2? wtf? are these games meant to only put out sound out of 4 speakers, or am i not doing something right??

I thought I read somewhere that most Xbox games don't support the center channel. So it's not just you.

Dolby Digital doesn't always mean 5.1 channels. (i.e. there are 3ch digital soundtracks, etc.)

While I would agree tht some games just do 4.1 DD, HALO definitely is 5.1. Cortana's voice should come from the front as well as other characters speaking to the Master Chief. Now I don't know what's going on in ur set-up Kurt but it would be good if u really did a thorough trouble shooting.
BTW, I use the HD pack with a generic optical cable.
