So I go into my local video store today to finally rent Finding Neverland and lo and behold there on the shelf was National Treasure! [IMG]

It was rented out but this was an automatic buy for me so I picked one up; and yes I was able to rent Finding Neverland and Sideways. [IMG]

The clerk said there had been an "early release." Anyone else see this out early?

It's not a national chain but it is a large chain here in Connecticut. It seems this hasn't occured anywhere else so I'm going to assume this was just a local event. Maybe my video store's chain needed to boost their weekend rentals or something . . .

I know the owner of a rental chain in my area and he releases new movies on weekends.I won't say the name because I don't want anyone to get in trouble.

I saw it like a week ago in a local supermarket... Full-screen only. [IMG]

I've always wondered why that wasn't the norm anyway. Stores are just more crowded on the weekends and I bet a bulk of the sales for a particular disc happens in that time frame.

It creates in-store traffic on Tuesdays (an off days for retail).
