Okay about 2 weeks ago i went over to a mates place as he insisted i come over straight away! to my amazement after hearing an almighty thump of BASS. I said where did that come from? he quickly replied behind my sofa before i asked i was looking at a 12" in front of me and thought that is 1 hell of a sub, to my amazement this sub was the size of a large coffee table. It was a SVS PRO 12 if memory has not failed me this coffee.

How much i asked like you do, oh only $2400 - What? Then today i ordered the MDF im having it cut like a RTA kit then i using a BASH amp 350 RMS. my twin 12" ported will only cost me $500. I will need help with the install and set up and the good thing is i can put the box together. But here is a question i have 2 12" car subs JBL could i use these for my active sub?

Cheers Troy

It depends on which model JBL 12" inch sub you have. It is not whether or not they have the marketing label of 'car audio sub' on them, the Theile/Small parameters determine whether or not they will perform well in a home environment.

You mention an RTA kit - what is that? If you are already building an enclosure you should stop. It is much easier to design an enclosure than it is to find subs that work well in an existing box.

And do you already have the BASH amp? Again, depending on the drivers you have or will get, it may not be the best way to power them.

Finally, which SVS did your friend have? There is no such thing as an SVS Pro. Every sub in the SVS line can be bested by a DIY sub if designed and powered properly. You are only limited by enclosure size and budget.
