It's an Infinity BU-120 bought Feb. of 2000. Around Aug. 2003 it would not stop thumping. The only way to stop it was to unplug. Took it in for repairs and for $30 in parts and $60 in labor it was fixed.

Last Thursday it started doing the same thing. I plug it in from the sub straight to the power bar. This means it is on 24/7. Is this the reason the capacitor keeps blowing and if so what are the alternatives.

Thanks,

Mike

If the problem is only a capacitor, it needs to be replaced with one of a higher voltage rating. For instance, if it is a .01 mfd @ 50V, replace it with a .01 @ 1000V. I've had similar problems with other electronic devices and this has always fixed the problem forever!

Good luck,
Bill

Infinitys usually have a 5 year warranty. You should try making good use of it (if you but it from authorized seller). They seem to have some really good cust service.
