I've had this thing for about 5 weeks, and I'm pretty disappointed...grainy and so contrasty that some scenes are almost unwatchable.
I've played with the menus so much that I think I have them all memorized.
Sure am glad I saved my old Sony 570; I'm going to try taking this one in for repair (should be under warranty, I hope).
I noticed a similar thread a while back:

and I'm starting to believe there was a bad batch of these players.
Anyone else having problems like these?

OK, pulled the Toshiba 50H81 out from the entertainment center and hooked the Sony back up, and I see the same softness, so it can't be the player.

My next trial is to replace the $95 Monster component video cables.....hope that works, because I don't want it to be the TV...

Randy,

Not wanting to be insulting... you did switch progressive on right??? ( I know when I first received my rp 91 I had the same problem in interlaced) plus on the 50h81 is there colourstream and colourstream pro inputs??
