My reciever has a digital out, why?

    Why is that?

    Also, anyone know where I can get a Dish Network reciever with digital outputs?

    Bert,

    The digital out on your receiver can be used for devices like a minidisc player/recorder. Most minidisc recorders have digital inputs so you can record directly in the digital domain.

    Your receiver has a digital out for much the same reason it has analog outs (for hooking up to tape decks, VCRs, etc.) This could let you hook up an external CD burner, minidisc, run an digital audio hookup to another receiver in another room, use digital wireless headphones, etc.
