I have an older AV receiver (Onkyo 608) that does 7.2 It has connections for 2 front highs, really making it 9.2. My set-up now is 7.1. and am using my Sammy K8500 (3D/4K) for pass through. My question is, could I connect 2 Atmos in-ceiling speakers to those front highs and will I get 7.2.2? Also, if I play a Atmos disc, will I get audio thru them?

Your receiver is capable of Dolby Prologic IIz, the precursor to Atmos. My Marantz has this feature, and it works quite well, especially with movies encoded for Atmos. It won't be true Atmos, but many Atmos films do have some matrixed heights mixed into their 7.1 TrueHD core. Just be sure Prologic IIz surround mode is enabled.

I'd say it can't hurt to wire it up, and when you upgrade your receiver down the road, your room will be Atmos-ready.

Fantastic news Todd!!! You really made my day! Going out to Best Buy Magnolia and see their Definitive speaker since that's what all my speakers are.
