About a month ago, my wife and I got a puppy. We have always known we were going to get one, and after getting married in July, it was the right time.

We adopted a mix from the shelter. His name is Ender. We don't know exactly what kind he is, but have heard guesses from just about every breed of dog there is (most popular are Shepherd, Dane, Lab, and Boxer but it is def. a mix of quite a few of those and/or others.)

Right now he's about 4 months old (not sure his exact birth-date) and weighed in at 24lbs.

    Pictures? You got em:

Any guesses to a dog type? And why didn't anyone tell me a puppy was this much work (j/k, they did, but I don't think you full comprehend how much work it is until you actually try to do it [IMG])

Puppy classes start next week, so I'm looking forward to them as well.

Very cute Chris, congrats on the new pooch. My 2nd Dalmatian turns 11 months tomorrow and she is weighing in over 75lbs.

Yes, puppies due require quite a bit of work, but they are very worth it.

    Enjoy!

Puppies are a lot of work but worth it. I love my dog but I hate cleaning the crap in the yard before mowing and now that we have a baby on the way I'll have to clean all the time....[IMG]

It doesn't look like he likes the bandana.

It looks like he's a mix between a Great Dane and a Toy Poodle.

He's so cute I have to cover my eyes! [IMG]

I love the black muzzle. Reminds me of old slapstick comedy where something blows-up in someones face and it turns soot black. [IMG]

No idea as to the lineage. He's very cute. His eyes don't really look like that do they? I've never heard of the "blue-eye" effect in photography.

    LOLOL, been there.

No, the eyes are brown. We actually have one close up of the face (well, it wasn't intentioned to be a close up but Ender wanted to see what that gray thing that was pointing at him was) that his eyes are REALLY blue in it. It was a pretty wierd effect first time I saw it.

I keep telling myself that she'll be a great companion in 6 months, I'm having a hard time keeping my patience.

She's good ATM, sleeping on my toes and snoring away. Soon to be interrupted by bounding around the house like a little hungarian version of the tazmanian devil.

First of all your "kid" is so ugly pick out one end to shave for it's face and force it to walk that direction for the rest of it's life![IMG]

Just kidding, cute dog sort of look like a doe colored pitbull mixed with aussie shepard to me though the hair seems a little short.

    Cute, very cute.

By the way, according to some blog I read somewhere, the cost to raise a dog from puppyhood to age 10 is around $6400. I don't know if that includes carpet.

A "spay" is an ovariohysterectomy; ovaries and uterus removed, at least in the USA; in some countries the custom is to just remove the ovaries.

    Sweet pooch Chris.

Im glad to hear you resuced the dog from a shelter. I do volunteer work with the local county resucing bunnies and getting them adopted. Its really sad going in there seeing all the dogs, cats and rabbits trapped in cages.

Well sir, you have yourself a conundrum. Yes, the dog would be better, but for how long? Most breeds have long bought the farm by 14.
