Due to a lack of funds, I wasnt able to pick Star Wars Trilogy yet. Within the next few weeks, I will be moving in with my brother for the first time in 7 years. A couple of days ago he called me and told that he bought the Star Wars Trilogy and that it wasnt nessecary for me to buy it.

I we were driving for lunch, I asked that he got the Widescreen version, he said no and bought the Full-Screen version!!
I ask him why did he do that and he says that he nor his friends doesnt like widescreen.
Between the two of us, I'm the true DVD collector. While he only has a couple dozen, I have about 450+ All proper OAR versions.

It would appear that I am going to HAVE to by the SW trilogy ASAP.

I just hope I can convince him to switch from Foolscreen to Widescreen.

I'm sorry that your brother has fallen to the darkside.

I've got one friend that still needs to be convinced...but I'm working on it. I actually happened to be in a store a couple of weeks ago with a lady over in the next isle was wondering about differences between full screen and wide screen, so I stopped what I was doing and went over and explained it.

She left with the wide screen copy of her movie.

Cut two rectangles of black construction paper and tape them on each side of his TV set. When he asks what they’re for, tell him you like to know how much of the f#@$*!# movie you’re missing.

Explain that since you lose 33% of the picture with the FF version, it would have been a better "bargain" to buy the WS version.

Shouldn't WS versions have stickers that say "33% MORE FREE!" - THEN every J6P would buy the WS version.

I'm going to use a variation of this from now on.

Why buy 67 percent of the movie when you can get the whole thing for the same price?

then step back and watch his head explode.

Tell him to go to the store and pick up a 30 pack of his favorite Beer and tell him that he has to leave 9.9 of them behind or he is not allowed to drink 9.9 of them. Then he will understand.

The only problem with relating it to physical objects is, J6P's percieve the image (on a FF DVD) to be "more" (because it takes up the entire tv screen).

The better way to describe how (by adding) the black bars actually gives you "More" picture, compare it to buying a half tank of gas and then filling the rest of the tank with water to "FILL" your gas tank as opposed to only filling your tank 3/4 of the way with just gas.

i.e. just because your tank is full, it doesn't mean you're getting "more" gas than someone with 3/4 of a tank of gas.

Or tell him that if he wants to fill up his tank for cheaper to just install a smaller gas tank. [IMG]

"But then I'm not getting as much gas"
    "Exactly"
