I have a 27 inch sony wega that is about 3 years old that broke on me. When I turn it on the volume is maxed out and cannot be lowered on the tv or through the remote. I also cannot change the channels. I dont want to bother trying to get it fixed if it is going to cost a decent amount so I might sell it on ebay as is. I see this as a sign to upgrade so I am going to get the new sony e50a10. thanks for everyones help

Good luck on finding a buyer...that'd be expensive shipping.

I would do a local pick up only and let the highest bidder take. Which might be a penny [IMG] . Does anyone know if this is a cheap fix??

The most common cause of this is just a bad switch. All the controls and the IR sensor share the same data line so one failure affects all. A button could have collapsed or Glass Cleaner could have run down the front of the picture tube and corroded the switches.

I'd suggest getting it fixed. (and help keep your local servicer in business so when your newer sets fail, there is someone left to fix it)
