My fiancee and I went to BB last weekend and picked out our (my, snicker) first home theater system. We had a fairly limited budget, a smallish living room, and not alot of ideas as to what we were looking for. We primarily watch dvd's and have a collection of probably close to 1000. I was set on a Sony 51" tv because two of my family members have Sony HD sets and really like them and the do have a great picture and have thus far been really reliable. There was a Sony and a Toshiba 51" side by side in the store. I have to admit the picture on both, while displaying digital cable was great but the Toshiba as far as PQ won out for both of us. The deciding factor was the fact that the Sony wouldn't be available till mid-March. Anyway, we decided on the Toshiba with an upscaling dvd from Samsung and a Yamaha home theater system.
    Toshiba 51H84 television
    Samsung HD841 dvd
    Yamaha Yht150 sound
After all the Monster cables, 16 ga. speaker wire, optical cables for sound, etc, we "only" spent around 2500$. Picture, sound, and performance are amazing, to us anyway!
Any opinions on this system? Suggestions? Would love to hear from someone with more experience on the whole thing.

Looks solid to me... Do you have it installed? Anything bugging you about it yet?

It's been up and running almost constantly since I got it all set up last Saturday. Seem to have a little drift in the convergence of the tv but from what I've seen here that's to be expected during the first 100 hours or so. Worst part was carrying it in the house and running/stripping all the speaker wire!

I take that back, the worst part was carrying our old RCA out to give to the fiancees folks. Clumsy as heck and must weigh twice as much as our new set!
