It’s good to enjoy physical media from a quality perspective but building up bogeymen concepts for phantom reasons why disks are better access points for media doesn’t add up. You are much more likely to have a series stop pressing disks mid run than you are to lose permanent access to an internet connection.

I don’t think price increases, loss of isp service and shows coming and going from one service to the next are boogeyman concepts. I mean more streaming options pop up and prices increase over time. It’s getting out of hand like cable tv prices

Where's the actual "video" for us to "watch" on YouTube, itself a streaming service hosting your streamed (not-)"video"? Seems to me that's indicative of how lacking your hot take is... not that I'm anti-physical-media or heavily pro-streaming at all... NVM the fact you're (still?) comparing "DVDs" to streaming (that has typically been offering higher quality than DVDs for at least several years now, NVM often even 4K/HDR10-or-DV quality of late and sometimes Atmos audio to boot)...

FYI, streaming is not only limited to what you mentioned and probably erroneously assumed, ie. subscription services that essentially supplant rental, not necessarily ownership. There are streaming/download platforms/storefronts like iTunes and Vudu that sell individual licenses for perpetual ownership that's essentially the legal equivalent of disc ownership (give or take some nuances specific to each that likely roughly cancel out in the grand scheme of things)... and the pricing for such digital streaming ownership is generally somewhat lower than for physical media...

And FWIW, I used to agree largely w/ you, but not anymore since being able to buy digitals frequently at the <=$5 mark, particularly often for titles less available, if at all, on HD-or-better quality physical media and/or more marginal titles I wouldn't necessarily want to take up relatively scarce/costly storage real estate, which already needs to accommodate a fairly large disc collection (exceeding a couple thousand) as is...

And if your ISP is not providing reliable, fast enough service at reasonable pricing, that's of course another issue that impacts more than just your access to streaming. Meanwhile, physical media and their playback devices do degrade or break down too, so it's not like you'd never ever have your access interrupted/disrupted -- for instance, I've probably lost access time due to discs and disc players failing at least as much as, if not more than, ISP and/or streaming service/platform disruptions, but of course, such are just anecdotal, not necessarily representative of most people's situations/experiences (whether past, present or foreseeable future)...

I've never understood the desire to debate competing options when both are ready available to those who want them. I happily consume both formats and [somewhat grudgingly] accept that one is on the decline.
