We have a farily new refridgerator (18 months) that suddenly stopped making ice.

The water from the door still works but the ice stopped.
    The trays are empty.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can check ?

    Thanks.

I had something similar happen to me. I checked the top of the ice tray and found that a piece was stuck on top. For some reason, this caused it to stop. It wasn't much ice. So I just cleared out the ice on top and it started making ice again.

    Hope this helps.

    Dave,

    Thanks for the reply.
That's the 1st thing I checked because that happens a lot with mine. I didn't see any ice peices anywhere.

Check your water line. Maybe the filter is clogged.

    Marc,

But I'm getting water from the water dispenser on the freezer door. Wouldn't that not work as well ?

yeah, the water should be coming into the fridge by only one source. The only thing that could happen with the water line is that it is blocked when the line splits inside the unit.

You may have to call a repair person for this one. I hate to say that!

Have you looked for a fuse (that would only control the ice cube maker motor)?

    Philip,

There is no metal arm. [IMG]

It's a pretty new fridge with the ice bucket on the door.
I'll check to make sure it's locked in but I'm pretty sure that was the 1st thing I checked.

Just had repairman over to the house for our Sear refridgerator with the same problem. Turns out the water comes in via a single tube and once inside the fridge it splits into two (one for the ice maker and one for the water dispenser). The ice maker line froze. He is going to replace it with a new line that has a heater in it to keep the line from freezing again. This could be your problem as it sounds the same as mine. Good luck[IMG]

    Thanks Joel.

I just purchased a new contract for a year from Sears for this problem.

I'll let you know the problem once they fix it.
