Is the insulation for temperture purposes or for sound?

I am interested in your project... my friend has a similar layout in his basement and we plan to start framing this spring. So, I'm anxious to see how yours turns out.

that insulation thats up... is what was in the house when they built it, so as we are building the walls... we are taking down the old insulation.... once all the framing is complete we have to reinsulate it.... now this is a basement so the insulation is for temperature reasons for the most part... not sound proofing..... but we might put insulation on the ceiling to reduce noise upstairs

    Derek,

Looks like you are off to a great start! You will appreciate all of the pix documentation when your HT is complete. Your 8 steps will have many subsets along the way. Keep it up and keep us informed with your pixs. If you enjoy your HT 1/2 as much as I've enjoyed mine, your hard work will be worth it.

So I take it you work on this everyday after work? Your making some good progress. You inspire me to tear mine down, and put it up the right way. Keep up the good work!

BTW, what are you going to be using as a display? RPTV or FP? Looks like you may also have a game room down there too huh?

Not home theater related, but I have been remodeling my house and hanging blue board. I must say that is one of the best jobs I have seen of hanging dry wall. Now I feel like a total hack. On the same note, I had my cousin plaster, so you can't tell anyways.

    Great job

    Marc

Looks good. Room should be nice and neat when complete, just how I like it.
