JBL 8330 mkII surround arrays modification with x2 Dolby CP45 switched to active crossover for LF HF outputs.

Active crossover wiring is located on the back panel of the Dolby CP45 for LCR. Active crossover filters are 500 and 800Hz the 500Hz will be used.

LF lows sent to own amplifier from there will be sent to bass driver on JBL 8330 wired directly past the passive crossover to bass driver.

HF mid-range to highs sent to own amplifier from there will be to JBL 8330 binding post passive crossover network and to mid-range to highs.

This will allow a greater immersive THX surround for lower lows and higher highs.
HF boast on the CP45 can be switched ON or OFF

6th JBL 8330 mkII (THX Approved) has arrived.

Small minor damage to wood joins that can easily be repaired with wood glue and crossover coil typical small flaw due to vertical placement over time loosens the glue, I'll use liquid nails to glue the coils down.

Repair this tomorrow.

Small scruffs on the base of the enclosure must have been rubbed across the floor and small dent on edge when removed form Twickenham theatre 2, last year, 2013. The dent I think can be repaired with tiny dab of liquid nails on the edge, sanded down to shaped the edge and then painted black.

Drivers are okay. Cloth grill is tiny hole that doesn't bother me.

Seeing how Cat People sounds in DOLBY STEREO 5.1 tonight. SDDS fader was set high due to low level Dolby mix.

The surrounds came though nicely even when Alice, is jogging though a park the sound of dog is heard from behind then sounds on centre front as the camera is looking forwards towards her then cuts to wide angle shot, nicely done.

David Bowie, "putting out fire with gasoline" had some cat sub bass beat in THX sound system.

Very little space to find to stack them to one side until ready to install. The condition was reasonable good for used odoen seating.

Dad, popped around with some wood glue and has been drying steadily now with some weight pressing down on 2 joins for 30mins and I'll leave it till the morning and use the liquid nails to clue the two coils on the passive crossover on the board and do a few more that have come lose. Hot glue doesn't seem to last long enough seen too many crossovers with hot glue come lose.

I needed something with a light weight to press down on the join while the wood glue dries and used the other 8330 placed on top and waited a few hours till dried.

No nails this into place and shouldn't move.

10906523_10152981920480149_1028602311468617499_n.jpg

Small chip on the edge must have happened when removed from dubbing theatre. I used mobile phone LED light to inside the enclosure to check for any light between the seal and looked find and placed a little no nails across the seal and wiped it off so that should be dry in few hours hard as nails.

A little no nails in the gap and I'll wait for it to dry and sand it down and put a little more in and sand it down once dry and when okay I'll put a little black spray paint over it.

Done a little sanding down on the no nails then applied a little more no nails and after realizing the scarper was okay but I wanted flatter smoother finish. Baking? Rolling-pin. Yeah but what do have that is small then I thought of flat batteries.

Yeah that's shaping up nicely now. (got wait till it dries by tomorrow w for next sanding down) It will take a few more days to get close to the straight edge and by which time I'll have x2 more tv flat screen brackets and the repair will be finished and painted and ready for install.

Ah...a Dolby CP500. If you didn't get a CP650, that's the next best choice.
I ran one for years before getting the CP650. It's my backup unit now.
Although these units are not supported by Dolby any longer, they
can be bought for a few hundred dollars and there are plenty of
them out there. If you're gonna use the 500, you should buy a
spare and throw it on the shelf just in case!!

I have x2 CP500 one on the rack shelving.

I think one was £50.00 and the other £80.00, bargain it was.
