Also make sure that the projector is actually in focus. I've seen good films ruined because someone put the projector out of focus to minimize film grain.

Amazon Canada still hasn't made the price adjustment on my pre-order! Should I be concerned?

CHEERS! :)
In my experience, the price you see on the order page will always show the price you ordered it at, but you will ultimately only be charged the lowest price.

Hi Patrick!

Oddly enough, the first part hasn't been mine, but Amazon Canada finally marked down the price on my pre-order, at any rate! :)

CHEERS! :)

Which is completely unnecessary anyway for large format movies like My Fair Lady - not that I would condone it even for material shot in 8mm.

I saw it just two years ago on a big wide screen at a specialist revival cimena here in Melbourne.

To my chagrin it was very evident that this was a blown-up pixillated version with not a whiff of HD about it. Strangely, everyone around me seemed not to notice or even care.

A few years ago I was at a theatre that was showing Meet Me in St. Louis. They stretched the 1.33 image to 1.77 (from a DVD) and no one was complaining.

I just discovered that a standard-sized Blu-Ray case actually fits nicely into the laserdisc box. It tucks in neatly under the Cecil Beaton hardcover. If the new Blu-Ray comes in a regular case, I'll be able to assemble what in my mind will be a strong contender for Greatest Blu-Ray Box Set ever.

Hmm... I'll have to try out the same thing with mine, now that you mention it!

Warning: it would be pure evil to try this with the previous "My Fair Lady" Blu-Ray. The most loverly laserdisc box set ever offered to the public must never be defiled in such a fashion.

GREAT NEWS!

An alternate soundtrack has surfaced ... the legendary standby dubbing by Robert Goulet and Barbra Streisand. And the lost first reel is being painstakingly reconstructed (with expert advice from a legendary person associated with this site) from screen audition footage for Tony Curtis and Jayne Mansfield. This does mean release date may have to be pushed back a year or two, but this makes it really worth the wait.,

Is that true that audition reels of Tony Curtis and Jayne Mansfield will feature in the special features? I had no idea they even auditioned for it. I tried to research it but could not find anything.

One of the all time greats, who truly deserved his Oscar for this film. I've never been quite certain where Gene Allen's contributions begin and where Cecil Beaton's contributions end when it comes to the sets, but Henry Higgins's library may be my favorite set of all time. And the Ascot Racecourse racecourse set is a masterpiece of abstraction.

According to a footnote attached to Mr. Allen's first mention in Cecil Beaton's book, "He was to help me with sets as Assistant Designer, and he had arrived (in London) with George Cukor". He keeps popping up throughout the events described during the making of the film, and it seems fairly obvious that his job was to work with Mr. Beaton's designs and translate them into movie reality. In the book, Mr. Beaton expressed only fondness and respect for Mr. Allen.
