My dad needs help w/directv dvd hook up! (1 Viewer)

Hey guys. Yesterday I went over to my dads house to hook up all his stuff.
He has

Standard Cable antenna
Directv
DVD
VCR

A/Video Switch 2 in 1 out

1 Composite AV Hook Up on TV

How do I hook it up? He wants to be able to tape DTV and OTA Cable.

Can you guys help us?

There’s no such thing as “OTA Cable.” “OTA” means a TV antenna. “Cable” means cable TV. Fortunately, as for as this is concerned, the two are interchangeable.

Still, there really isn’t enough information in your post to give an adequate answer. To start with, I can’t tell if you’re trying to get everything to work (i.e., get a picture on the TV) or simply trying to tape from antenna/cable or Direct TV. Or both.

And there is no details about the equipment: Does the Direct TV have single or double line-level outputs? Is the A/V switcher line-level, or RF?
