I sold my 4 yr. old and trusty Onkyo 575x and I'm in the middle of house repairs and I have a budget of $300(firm)......I haven't looked at recievers in a long time and would like to know if this a decent unit. I do 50/50 music and movies. I was happy with the power specs of the Onkyo, so If the Yammy would perform as good as the onkyo with the added 6th channel, I would be happy.

I ordered it (5740) shipped for $285 from Amazon...from what I've researched so far it's the most feature/quality packed (new) in it's price range (alternate model is the Yamaha rxv450).

How about a new HK DPR 1001 for 300 from Circuit City/Amazon with free shipping? This one has multizone with preouts also.

Hank, I hope not. I've had Onkyo and Denon all my life, hopefully I'll become a happy Yammy man !!...One vote of confidence is the two year warranty.:emoji_thumbsup:

I looked into the 5760 also, but I had no need for the component upconversion or the YPAO.
