I've been working on a man cave for the past couple of years and wasnt real concerned with the theater side of it as I didnt think I could afford to do one that would compare to a good tv picture, but after doing some research and alot of DIY, I was able to put something together that fit into my budget. I got a refurbed epson 3500 projector and a 96" screen for about 1100.00, try buying a tv that size. I have about 1300.00 into my surround sound, Onkyo TX-NR646 with Polk Audio speakers setup 5.1.2. I have a polk 12" and a Polk 10" sub, I also have a tactile transducer mounted in the reclining love seat. Everything else, was already part of my cave but I have a little over 4k invested into the whole basement, including the theater. It's just my wife and I, so I didnt go all out on seating. I've been working with acoustics to get the best sound I can without compromising my movie posters, those have to stay. I have Phillips Hue bulbs and a harmony hub that are controlled by my amazon echo or tablet.
