I know I am a day early, but I wanted to mention this before it slipped my mind. Tomorrow will be my ninth anniversary as a member of this great forum. I remember when I joined there were less than 2,000 members.
I want to thank Ron and Parker for maintaining a high quality forum and given me place to hang out and discuss the things I have a passion for.
(Edit) I just realized I am not good at math. Tomorrow will be my 8th Anniversary here.

I wish I would have found this forum 8 years ago!!! Would have made a big difference! This Forum has more info than anyone can absorb..

I would love to see screen shots of the original website.

Admin's..... do you still have any screenshots of the first website and it's evolution history?

Thanks for that link and look back into the past, Todd. Seeing 800.com as a sponser brought back memories of those great online DVD sales from back then.
I'm 10 days away from my 8th anniversary here, btw.

Gents,

Sadly, I don't regularly read this area as much as I used to.

I actually stumbled on this thread by accident. Perhaps it

was fate.

In any event, I want to thank all of you for the kind words

about Home Theater Forum.

If anyone is grateful, it is Parker and I who greatly appreciate

the fact that you continue to visit this forum on a regular basis.

I have shared this thread with Parker.

Ron, it's been a privilege to be a member here for almost eight years. I've greatly enjoyed my time here. From the battle against Divx to the campaign against pan-and-scan, it feels like we actually did some good. Here's to another eight years.

Who the hell designed that site anyway!?
Many many thanks to all of you without whom none of this would be possible.
Cheers to each and everyone and here's to another round of 8.

Thanks Parker and Ron for keeping this site a float! I have spent many a hour here, perhaps to many. I got to get a life! ;)

I was thinking about some great threads that people have participated in. I remember that in June 1999 I was in the process of buying a subwoofer. I started a thread asking how I could convince my wife I needed a subwoofer. Someone replied that I should just go buy it and tell her it was a dehumidifier. My wife and I really liked that reply. So now when we hear the subwoofer kicking in, one of us will say, the dehumidifier is turning on.

Congrats to Wes for finding HTF a whole year before I did. Are there any other "old timers" still active at the HTF.

I'm coming up on 8. To put it in another perspective, I've been here long enough to have researched and bought a home theatre system that at the time was very hot, and is now badly outdated, 4:3, non HD, non anamorphic.

Man, I wish I could afford some new stuff!

Happy anniversary, Marty.

And that link to HTF back in 1999 certainly brought back memories. It was at 800.com that I first ordered a DVD online. (That was a helluva good outfit, too.)

Remember all the threats of not buying certain DVDs if there were not "anamorphic"?

Remember all the "When is ___ studio going to start doing DVD's?"

or

DIVX vs. DVD wars

Man, the good old days.
