I thought GameCube only had analog audio outputs...is this right?
It is a misprint, Batman Vengeance has DD labeled as well, but in fact it is just DPLII (are ALL cube games in DPLII?) or not. No cube games are encoded digital audio. That would be so awesome. I don't "have" DPLII but I do "have" normal DPL, sounds awesome when pausing during Wave Race. Very peaceful.
Not all GCN games are DPLII-able. By Dolby Digital they probably meant Dolby Surround or DPLII.
DD has sort have become the standard (why I don't know) to describe all configurations of the Dolby Format at home. You'd note how many talk about Dolby tracks often as DD 2.0 here and there. Same thing. Even the Phantom Menace VHS had the logo.
We of course know the Cube cant do 5.1. The logo on the back is really in reference to the game being Dolby Surround like the original game was. If it's specialy encoded for DPL II, it'll usualy show off the DPL II logo. The game manual would tell you the real deal.
Seriously, on the SMB2 disc, they have the DD 5.1 logo. (The one with the diagram of 5 speakers and a sub.)
They don't have the Dolby logo anywhere else.
