music tourney: albums by women who rock!

Stop me if this has been done already...

Inspired by posts in the Music Draft, a tournament for albums by women. Despite the title, albums in all genres of music are eligible, provided the artist is a woman, a group of women, or a group featuring a woman. Classical albums by female soloists are eligible, unless the group feels as though we should exclude them.

These are 32 automatics. I'd like to shoot for 128 albums.

Angelo: why not submit your choices to the seconding process as well? I know it's your tourney and all, but I, for one, have never heard of Tift Merrit or Shannon Curfman, or a couple of these other ones. They may be your personal favorites, but I hate a tourney with a bunch of 1-0 or 2-0 victories (or worse, 1-1 ties). I'm staying away from some obscure favorites myself for that reason.

I think "automatics" in general are a bad idea.

Nope, just missed it (probably because the name Rickie Lee Jones sends me running whenever I see it). :)

I will second Horses

and Pearl - Janis Joplin too. :)

I'll also second Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

Had to get one in, huh? :p)

Anyway, as was pointed out to me earlier, Janis Joplin's Pearl was on the master list, so I didn't need to nominate it. :b

This means I have one nomination left and I'm going nominate something less revered and more bubblegum:

Joyride Roxette :D

Master list updated with all albums in sofar.

I suggest we leave greatest hits albums, boxed sets, compilations and other reissues out of the tourney. JenB, you get a nomination back for The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac.
