Well, my HT plans have been put to rest for a couple o fmonths due to some contruction issues.

So, I currently have $800 for two speakers(which I would like to use as the front L&R when I get to have an HT), as well as a receiver(i'm guessin the pioneer vsx-d850s) and a cd player(which i would love if it has mp3 playback) ?

    is this doable?

my original plan for the HT system was a jbl nsp-1 set, with pb12 sub, and the d850s receiver...

i'm gonna have more money for the HT later on, so how should I spend my $800 for now?

THanks in advance for all help,

$800 for a pair of speakers should give you some pretty decent choices. I will throw out one name to consider -- Paradigm. You could look at the 11s in the Monitor Series or Studio 20 or 40 in the Reference series. Give them a listen.
