Music missing from SCTV Vol. 3 (1 Viewer)

In the last show of this cycle, in an episode of "The Days of the Week," there's a scene with Bill Murray running to the Clay Collins wedding. In the original show, he sings "Mrs. Robinson," making reference to The Graduate. In this scene on the DVD, his singing has been muted, thus removing the reference/joke, which ruins the whole point of the scene.

I thought all the music rights had been cleared for the SCTV discs, but apparently not. Has anyone else noticed any songs missing from other episodes?

Apparently Linsk Minyk singing "Stairway To Heaven" has been trimmed from "The Happy Wanderers," too. A buddy of mine works at Shout! Factory (he got me a free set, bless his soul) and I learned that it came down to some of the clips being completely priced out of proportion to what they could spend on rights.

The edit in "Happy Wanderers" is dreadful - it aborts that whole part of the sketch. That episode also loses the "Stairways to Heaven" TV ad spoof. With "Stairway", I don't think the issue is price - I think it's Led Zep's almost total refusal to license their music to anybody...

SCTV Guide is a great site that has a complete listing of all the changes on all three sets. It also says that Volume 4 is coming on April 2nd.

That'd be August 2, actually, if it's accurate - I've gotten no press release from Shout Factory yet...

That stinks. The reason we pay such a high price for these sets is the music rights.

However, Paul Simon and Jimmy Page are NOTORIOUS for not allowing their music to be licensed. Doesn't surprise me those two songs are the problems.

SCTV Network 90 volume 4 is coming out in August?Holy crap!I have a lot of catching up to do.I saw the first volume.It was hilarious,but afterwards a few shows were released that took priority over this one.Shout factory seems to release a volume every four or five months.If only other studios would release their shows on a regular pattern,like shout does with SCTV.
