I apologize if this has been asked before, when I did a search I got hits from the RIAA's lawsuit threads and not much else.

I just got a hi-speed connection and a burner, so I'm looking to start downloading some music...The RIAA approved way ;)

I've seen Rhapsody and Emusic and wasn't all that impressed with the available catalog. Can't use I-tunes until it goes Windows.

Are there any better, large scale pay services available that I'm missing? I'm looking more for Rock/Alternative mid-1990's and earlier....And jazz.

It's buymusic.com. I've heard mixed reviews about it though. Aparently each song can have different rules as to what you can do with it, so be sure to review them carefully before you buy a song.

As an Apple user, I'm very happy with the Apple iTunes Music Store. It should be coming to Windows later this year.
