Universal will release "Murder, She Wrote: The Complete Series" on Blu-ray on May 20, 2025!

The set will include all 12 seasons across 62 discs. Scroll down to the bottom for the listing: https://www.uphe.com/tv/murder-she-wrote-the-complete-series

Frank Tarzi recently revealed that Kino Lorber passed on releasing "Murder, She Wrote" on Blu-ray so I'm really pleased to see that Universal is doing it. I had purchased several of France's Elephant Films' releases (they issued the first six seasons) and bought the complete series on iTunes last December because I'd given up hope that we'd see the complete series on Blu-ray. I'll be picking this up in a heartbeat!

I hope the discs are boxed like the dvd set and not stacked to take up less space. Either way, I'm purchasing the set day one.

Me too on both your points. Single season cases like the way they’ve done it on the Cheers and Frasier sets would be my choice.

Yes those Cheers and Frasier boxes allow for easy access to the disc you want. I’m working through the DVD series set of How I
Met Your Mother, and flipping through the discs is a pain in the keister.

I'm in for an upgrade, even though I also haven't made it through the DVD set I already purchased.

The HD is stunning. Wish I wouldn’t have bought a few of those other region BD sets a few years ago.

Also, pretty disheartening that KL passed on releasing this. That indicates to me their classic TV on BD probably isn’t doing so well.

Stunning news. I have the UK DVD set that includes the 4 aftershow movies, so I truly hope that Universal doesn't cheapen out this time and puts them on the BD set.

@Bryan^H "Also, pretty disheartening that KL passed on releasing this. While Colombo had like 10 seasons, it only produced 69 episodes. Murder She Wrote on the other hand has 264 episodes spread across 12 seasons. A massive undertaking.

Do you happen to remember if the last two of those aftershow TV-movies were presented in widescreen on Blu-ray? They were shown that way originally, but the DVD released here has all four films in 4:3.

I only have them on DVD, so we'll probably have to wait and see on this one. Hopefully we'll know more about it soon.

You also have to factor in the episode length between both-- those of Columbo were like movies, many of them extended beyond a 50-min. timeslot (hour originally), while Murder, She Wrote was mostly contained in a 48-50 min. slot, and IIRC, never extended beyond that.

I caved and bought the complete series on sale at iTunes this week ($24.99). I have to say after only watching two selected episodes, I was super impressed by these HD masters. I'm sure the Blu-rays will be spectacular.
Matt, I agree, it's a huge step up from the SD masters we've been watching for years!

By the way, the Blu-ray release has been pushed back to June 17. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.

I’m waiting to see if the Blu ray release has the syndication used cuts. If it does I’ll pass. I went to I tunes last night and looks like the premiere is split into 2 episodes as would be done in syndication

When will it go up for Preorder ?
I've been asking the same question on many 'announced titles'. It seems like the disconnect between announcements and preorders is a chronic condition these days, Murder She Wrote being the latest casualty.

Others in that limbo, High Society, Lean on Me, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Sound of Music, Bewitched (complete from Mill Creek), Executive Suite, Shane 4K, A Date with Judy, The Enchanted Cottage, The Citadel, Splendor in the Grass.

The most laughable of the lot is 'Whorehouse' which was announced in January with an undisclosed 'street' of 'early 2025'.

Um...it's end of May, folks.

Don't know what constitutes 'early' at Uni these days, but June 1st is the half-way point of every year. So, 'early' according to what barometer of measurement?

Personal opinion, of course, but I really don't see the point in making such announcements for upcoming releases and then, not posting pre-order links to go along with them, if not on the same date, then, at least a week thereafter.

Criterion and Kino are exceptionally good at this. Paramount, sometimes. Universal - not so much. Warner Archive...not at all!

Under the rubric of 'Sh%! happens', I'm sort of 'okay' when 'dates' get pushed back, owing to production delays or other 'forces' beyond one's control. But there's another adage that starts with the same 'word' that basically says what I'm trying to here.

I'm paraphrasing here, to keep everything on a PG rated level of integrity, but 'Either poo or get off the pot.'

Holding in my anxiety to preorder all of these titles is making me constipated with anticipation!

They didn't cover themselves with glory on how the "Columbo" situation turned out.

Still hoping the Murder She Wrote spinoff "The Law And Harry McGraw" might someday get a US release. It only had a R4 Australia release on DVD and now that my region free player is dead I've had to rip those discs and reconvert them (though I'm also taking advantage of that to remove the PAL speedup)
