Mods: could one of you change the subject to reflect proper capitalization? I was in a hurry! Thanks.
DVDFile is passing on this morning a 12/18 release date for Murder By Death.
In the thread for the announcement of The Cheap Detective, we asked for this one!

Keith, I couldn't disagree with Peter more when he says "scraping the bottom of the barrel"; perhaps it slipped his mind was a great comedy this is. Or he just missed catching the film at some point.
As to the title, and it's impact to recent events, I say we should just let that pass. This movie is a COMEDY; a send-up farce of an entire genre, and as such we should just sit back and enjoy the laughs...we can use 'em about now.

This is far from the bottom of the barrel! David Niven, Peter Sellers, Peter Faulk, James Coco, Alec Guinness, Nancy Walker, and the list goes on. A great cast in a great comedy.
The IMDB lists two endings for this film:

    "Nobody move"
    "Why?"
"I gotta go to the can and dont wanna miss anything"
Scraping the bottom of the barrel indeed!! MBD is one funny movie. I pondered that it might not be too far behind with the release of the Cheap Detective. Cheers

Just yesterday I was thinking how nice it would be to have this title on DVD, but I figured it would be a long wait. Glad to see I was wrong. Like the rest of you, I'm really looking forward to this underrated little gem.
Consider the cast: David Niven, Sir Alec Guiness, James Coco, Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith, Elsa Lancaster, Nancy Walker, James Cromwell, Eileen Brennan, Peter Falk...and of course, the incomparable Truman Capote. If this is the "bottom of the barrel", I don't want to see the top. Thanks for putting MBD on the schedule, C/TS!

I'm extremely excited about Murder By Death getting a DVD release but DVDfile.com sometimes leaves me a bit skeptical.
They announced a Special Edition of Prom Night and as we all found out last night in Anchor Bay's chat, it seemed Anchor Bay has no such Special Edition scheduled for release at all.
Regardless, I hope to add Murder by Death to my collection in the months to come. [IMG]

"My leg tends to look like a tree in this fog."
"Conversation like television set on Honeymoon: unnecessary!"
"No, he's got ten, he just doesn't have any pinkies."
"IT! IT is confusing! Say your goddamn pronouns!"
"With a thing like that in his back, in the long run, he's better off."
    "Possibly some deranged dry cleaner?"
    "I can't help it, I'm old."
Yes, long before there was Clue there was Neil Simon's Murder By Death. I don't know how familiar today's audiences will be with the specific detectives being parodied (Charlie Chan, Nick & Nora Charles, Miss Marple, Sam Spade, Hercule Poirot), but it works whether you get all those references or not. The stuff with Alec Guinness and Nancy Walker alone is worth the price of the disc. And how many remember this as one of James Cromwell's first roles?
And Simon's other fun '70s parody, The Cheap Detective, is coming too! Fan-frippin'-tastic.
