Right now I have a Sony STR-DE875 reciever w/ the 6.1 virtual matrix. I have seen many people with rear corner and rear side speakers. Is my reciever capable of doing that or would I have to have some hook up with an amp.

Also, do I need a back center to take advantage of the 6.1 Virtual Matrix sound.

Thanks

Ian

Ian,

In most situations with both rear and side surrounds, people have receivers like Denon. These receivers have both speaker posts. Your Sony doesn't have these. But you do probably have a preout that would let you hook up another amp and do it that way. But, that is a subject I know little about.

As for the virtual matrix, you don't need another speaker. What the receiver does is use the 2 surround speakers to create the image of a center channel. Some think that this is ok and others hate it. You just have to try it and see for yourself. Hope this helps.

Mike
