I'm still trying to decide which platform I want to purchase. Which one will have the better multiplayer games and what are some of them? I am looking for the type that two people play at once, not turn based games.
Thanks,
Chad

XB has mainly Project Gotham (racing), Fuzion Frenzy, and Dead or Alive 3 (fighting). GCN has Super Monkey Ball, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and WaveRace.
Project Gotham is pure racing and DoA3 is just like DoA2:H. I would reccommend the GCN for games (the console and its other games factoring in) but its up to you.

There is also Cel Damage, Mad Dash, Obiwan and Star Wars Jetfighter...thats just off the top of my head. I'll look for the complete list.

Facts are, unless your 12 and under, the Xbox will most likely suit your needs more at launch point. Of course, this could change over time, but right now that's just the way things are.

I chose Gamecube over X-Box because of GCN's multiplayer games. They will have SSB:M, Super Monkey Ball, WaveRace, Perfect Dark 0, Mario Kart in the future, and I've heard of a new 007. Oooohhh, I can't wait. I'm giddy just thinking about'em.
X-Box will also have some good ones also. It's for you to decide on which "turn you on" more! :) :)

To me, most of the best >2 player games over the last few years have NOT been on Nintendo.
Bomberman (especially the Turbografx and Saturn versions)
Death Tank Zwei (Saturn) (freakin great)
Poy Poy (PSX)
Point Blank (PSX) (alternating party mode)
Virtua Tennis (Dreamcast)
Chu Chu Rocket (Dreamcast)
I find most 4-player split-screen racers and shooters to be lacking.
I like Nintendo for their first-party platform games and racing games, mostly.

I chose GCN over XB for multiplay games because of Super Smash Brothers Melee. This is the only game that I already know will be good (that is multiplayer) because of how good the original was. Plus, it has more characters, more levels, more modes, and ALL my friends already like it (a LOT, too).
I could care less about racing games and FPS games (FPS' usually get boring after 20 kills in a round), and I am more interested in puzzle or fighting games.

...and Nascar Heat supports up to 32 players on 8 seperate XBoxes.
While this is a cool feature for the game to have, who seriously is going to have 8 Xboxes hooked up at one time in one place? It isn't a pc.remember...

Truth is, my friends and I will easily hook up 4 Xboxs and play Halo. I'm sorry if I stepped on some peoples toes with my last comments but heres another fact that goes Xbox's way. It is ready to be hooked up to the net and be played. Spring 2002, broadband connection. GC I have no idea what the connection will be but it is an Add on which is very negative. Add ons do not sell that well! This will hurt the GC on line play badly. As for perfect Dark zero, well the first was well below the bar set by Golden Eye so what will make this one better?

Chad;
Your "facts" sound more like opinions to me. No one wants a system basher around here.
Oh, and I'm 22, and I love my Gamecube.

What the heck was Death Tank Zwei?
Death Tank was an excellent hidden 6-player game that you could play on the PowerSlave disc for the Saturn by entering a code.
Death Tank Zwei is an even better hidden 7-player game that can can play on the Saturn if you have the Quake game, and the Duke Nukem save file in your backup memory (or vice versa). You could also access it by destroying EVERY toilet in Duke Nukem.
The game is like Artillery Duel for the Atari 2600, but with the ability to drive your tank, play in REALTIME instead of turn-based, and upgrade your weapons to include nukes, MIRVs, guided missiles, machine guns, and more. Defensive upgrades include jump jets, hover coils, shields, and a 'corbomite' device. The game is ridiculously fantastic, especially with 4 or more players.
As far as Goldeneye goes, I used to play an hour of Quake 2 on the T1 at work before coming home, so was never able to get into the whole thumbpad FPS thing. Not bashing, just not my bag, baby.

Does anybody have any screen shots for Halo showing the split screen setup in mulitplayer mode? Any frame rate slowdowns in multiplayer?
What about SSX Tricky? Any word on the mulitplayer capabilities there?

Perfect Dark was great, but people said it sucked because unlike GoldenEye, it had a story. Overall, it was a better game, just some people were too lazy to figure that out.
The GCN doesn't need to go online. I see no reason why it should be shunned because of this.
If the XB games are so lacking that they need online play to be enjoyed, then its not worth it. PS2 can go online out of the box if you have the right accessories (don't need to buy official ones) and to tell the truth, the games are good enough offline that I could care less about online.

It is a fact that add ons do not sell very well. It also is a fact that internet will be a huge factor is games to come. I'm not system bashing, I'm just comparing. If it looks like to you that I'm bashing I'm not. My opinions on Perfect Dark too Golden Eye are different then most here I take it. I found Perfect Dark had way too many majopr destruction weapons in the game. Golden Eye had the right amount of weapons and a great balance of them too, perfect did not. As for SP in both games, never tried either, just went straight to the MP, and in my opinion, Perfect Dark was not that great of MP game.
