hi all -

i'm pairing up this tv (via a dvi connection) with a samsung 931 dvd player

however, it seems that the tv will only display 1080i or 480p. it won't display a 720p signal. someone mentioned it may simply be that the tv cannot do 720p.

so, does anyone know what's up???

thx,

ted

thx john - glad to know i'm not muckin' something up.

on a side note, how different is 1080 vs 720? is it like significant or pretty subtle? i know for fast-moving images, progressive is preferred, but that's about it.

No CRT based RPTV can display 720p, so you're not missing much. Just have whatever device you own output 1080i or 480p.

The only reason you might want 720p to 1080i support is for XBox.

720p doesn't matter much. Right now I have a 30" 16:9 CRT that displays it natively. I'm forgoing that for the larger screen of a RPTV. Nice, but I can live without it.
