Is the DVD of Mr. Holland's Opus Anamorphic? It doesn't say so on the packaging. If it's not then back to the store it goes! I thought I'd find out before opening it as City Of Angels didn't say whether or not it was anamorphic. Just making sure before I return it.

City of Angels(1998) is enhanced for widescreen TVs.

Mr. Holland's Opus is letterbox widescreen.

Unfortunately MR HOLLAND'S OPUS has maybe the worst DVD transfer i've ever seen. Taken from a composite master and has some of the worse ringing you'll ever see and the 5.1 was lacking too!! Really a great disservice to a great film!

Well, I'm glad to know this information also. We have the VHS copy, and I was thinking of getting the DVD as a surprise for my wife. Being a music teacher in our elementary school and jr.high/senior high choir director, she LOVES the whole premise of this movie. In OUR opinion, Richard Dreyfus should have gotten an Academy Award for this.[IMG]
Unfortunately, since the DVD doesn't look that great based on what you all have said, I'll hang on to the tape[IMG]

MHO was one of the first Disney DVD's back in '99. The video is everything you would fear; it's near VHS quality (but it is letterboxed, so if you only have a pan&scan version, the DVD is a better in that regard.)
Disney sure has come a long way since then... [IMG]
