Interesting news, but that should probably be in a different thread. This one is for Ozzie & Harriet.

Thanks. :thumbs-up-smiley: I am aware of this thread’s subject. I was responding to several comments above about I Love Lucy’s Blu-ray prospects. It made sense to do that here, since it was being discussed.

I spoke to a person involved with the project recently, got excited, and wanted to pass it on to someone I thought would be excited as well. Hopefully they meet their 2025 target, and we can start a new thread about it then. :emoji_slight_smile:

First of all, welcome to the forum! Any idea if this will include The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour? I Love Lucy has been streaming in HD for a few years now so this has very little excitement for me without that. Thanks.

All of Paramount’s previous “complete series” sets of I Love Lucy on DVD have included the Desi-Lucy Comedy Hour, and it was reported years ago that newer, more complete HD transfers of those were done after the DVDs were completed, so I think it’s a safe assumption.

In the Season 1 episode "Separate Rooms," the episode opened with the family in the kitchen. Ricky had visible scratches on his face. The scene then moved to the living room and the scratches had vanished from Ricky's face.

I just watched that episode last night. A few weeks ago I went back to the beginning of the series after wrapping up Season 14, the final season. I thought those marks came from something he got on his face when he was eating breakfast. I guess those do look like scratches. Strange.

I think it’s ok here as long as it doesn’t coop the thread. I Love Lucy is another of those beloved iconic shows that need as much attention as possible these days. Many fans of O&H would be interested in such a package. I know I would. And Ozzie And Harriet on Blu-ray too!

Came here wondering about a blu ray release.

There’s been no announcement of one, nor any rumors of one coming.

The HD versions of the show are available digitally; some subscription services offer them while they can also be purchased at digital storefronts. I know that’s not exactly the same as having it on a Blu-ray but so far that’s the only way to get them in HD.

I have all of the DVDs plus one of the seasons digitally and in my opinion between the nature of the show’s black and white simple composition photography and improvements in compression over the years, the DVDs look really good - very close to the HD versions. If you prefer physical media to digital, the DVD sets are very respectable.

$146 for the whole thing seems pretty reasonable. I bought all of the DVDs individually plus the separately released bonus discs (which are in the set) - probably spent twice that or more.

Incredible. Remastered and streaming in HD for some time now and yet still not available to the most loyal fans in BluRay.

Blu-rays cost significantly more than DVDs to author and manufacture, and sell significantly fewer copies, so that’s just a numbers game.

I’d rebuy if they’re able to make it work one day but I honestly have no idea what the numbers were on these sets.

I have to disagree with you here. To my eyes, there's a significant difference. Everything one might expect from HD resolution. I agree the DVD's look great as standard definition goes. I own Seasons One through Four and have carefully compared. When I have time, I'll post a few comparisons here though I'm unsure it will translate well with only a few examples.

I feel MPI backed themselves into a corner by not releasing the BluRay version simultaneously with the DVD, or a Complete Series BluRay only as seems to be common these days. Because of that, I don't believe most folks here would double-dip even if it became available now. However I would think MPI made their money with revenue from the individual and Complete Series DVD + the streaming services and thus could easily afford to release a Complete Series BluRay. Quite honestly though, I know very little about physical media sales, nor do I buy much these days, but I too would support a Complete Series BluRay.

The entire series must have done ok for MPI all things considered . According to a knowledgeable poster here at HTF MPI is preparing a Bill Dana show set along with some other vintage goodies.

Agree, but I am happy that at least this was released on DVD. Better than nothing. There are still so many older shows that have no release at all and would be pleased just to have them on quality DVDs.

very well said.

Digital stuff just makes me nervous. Something like this I would much rather have a blu ray or DVD.
