All hail HUDSON HAWK. :D

I love A.I. as well. The review that appeared in THE STRANGER said, "You will be the only person you know who likes this film."

I too have to add "The Prophecy"

Which brings to mind another film I never thought got it's just deserves: Lord of Illusions

Which I thought was a better film then how it played..

I too would sign up for A.I. I also loved the ending.

A.I. - I really enjoy this movie. A surprising and intriguing movie.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - Absolutely gorgeous! The "spirits" are some of the most creative monsters I've seen in a while. And the story and acting, while flawed, are strong enough to suggest the great movie that could have been.

Hudson Hawk -- I don't love it, but I found it more enjoyable than my friends did.

]Earnest Goes to Camp - A high-school favorite not appreciated by the unwashed masses :)

I think the extreme hatred for CITH comes from the fact that it is a complete betrayal of Dr Suess, even more than The Grinch. I confess, I haven't seen the film, but I did see the trailer, and when they started showing pornography and erection jokes, it was plain how far they had deviated from the spirit of Dr Suess. Expand the story by all means, you would need to, but don't put that stuff in the film.

I'm probably the only person (besides Ebert :)) that actually enjoyed Anaconda. Jon Voight's accent and facial expressions are downright hilarious.

This is a great thread! I was just going to post a new thread about rising negative sentiment for movies but this thread sums up my opinions on the matter nicely.

I love Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

I also watch Tremors so much my wife groans and furiosly flips the channel any time it's on cable in hopes I won't notice it's on...

And you know what...I liked Lake Placid and was thinking of picking it up the last time I was at Best Buy. I really don't get why people get so worked up, negative, angry, snobbish about movies. If I would have to guess I think it has more to do with coming to terms with their incorrect or very high expectations/hopes for a film than the movie being "bad". What does it mean when a movie is called "bad" anyways. I've found that most of the movies I happen to like are "bad" by many standards but there must sure be alot of other people just like me out there or these things wouldn't be made I guess. As long as it entertains that's all that matters in the end...

Some others I like:

Alligator 1 and 2 - how could you not like giant killer alligators rising out of the sewers...my wife's entire family makes cracks about this all the time - all because when Lake Placid came out I made a comment that it was a complete ripoff of Alligator 1 and Alligator 2 - they looked at me like I was nuts because I not only knew these films exist but have seen them as well.

Independence Day
Matrix 2 & 3
Lost World
Bullet Proof Monk
Deep Blue Sea
Deep Rising
Leviathon
Waterworld
Gremlins 2
Critters 1 and 2
Willow
Troll 1
Secret of My Success
Bloodsport
Cyborg

...or you could just look at My DVD Profiler I guess...Hah!

Another A.I. fan here. The ending is the ending. It's not nearly as sentimental and "lovey-dovey" as everyone seems to think it is, and it was in Kubrick's original treatment (it wasn't in Brian Aldiss's original story, but then neither was most of the rest of the film :) ). Like so many of Kubrick's films, A.I. wasn't about what you expect it to be about, which is why a lot of people were completely bewildered by it. I think it's one of Spielberg's best films.

I also liked Matrix Reloaded and I loved Revolutions. Some flaws here and there, but still very intelligent, and refreshingly ambiguous.

Shakes the Clown (1991?). A story of a mime hating, foul mouthed, druged up drunk'n clown out to clear his name.

Staring...Bobcat, Adam Sander, Robin Williams, others...

The movie I like that no one else can stand is Pee Wees Big Adventure. No matter how bad of a mood I am in I can count on that movie to make me laugh till it hurts.

I know you are, but what am I

Dune [1984], even the people who made it hate it, but I love it, my number one guilty pleasure movie.:emoji_thumbsup:

Star Trek The Motion Picture, many fans least favorite Trek, but IMO still the biggest and best, the only one that doesn't feel like an extended tv episode.

Final Fantasy -The Spirits Within, criminally underrated, my most watched film of recent years.

Thought of another one, Detroit Rock City never disappoints me. It's absolutely hysterical!

I'll second the nomination for Willow.

And nobody, NOBODY understands my love for The Big Lebowski. Then again, I don't either. But love it is. I LOVE that movie. "Phone's ringing, Dude."

The other one I'll mention is The Hunted. Not the Tommy Lee Jones debacle, but the one starring Christopher Lambert. That scene one the train is just one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Who wouldn't like hardcore ninjas and samurais battling it out? Any movie that has a guy getting shot in the neck with a crossbow bolt is OK in my book. :)

I don't know, I think you'll find there's a lot of love for Lebowski on the HTF, and I know a lot of people out in the real world that also love the film.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is great. Tequila!

Do people really hate Gremlins 2? I can't imagine that.

Dang, I'd forgotten the Hunted, but I really loved it too and for the same scene. Just the image of the modern samurai slowly backing his way down the length of the train with the frightened passengers behind him and murderous ninjas in front of him. Kudos also to the soundtrack, performed by the Kodo drummers.

If you read his spoiler, I think he agrees with you. Anytime I hear someone talk about aliens in AI, I send them back to rewatch the movie (this time paying attention).

Some of my guilty pleasures:
- Red Dawn
- UHF
- Big Trouble in Little China
- various 'bad' kung fu movies
- Escape from New York
- Flash Gordon
- Hackers
