I don't know if there will be many responses here, but I thought this would be a fun thread:

Have you ever watched a movie and have been inspired to do what they are doing in the movie? I'm not talking about acting or directing (or any sort of job in the movie making industry), but I'm talking about doing something based on what a character does in that movie. Good or bad.

Example, How many times have you watched an exciting car chase and have wanted to run out and drive your car really fast or even had the urge to take up racing.

Or how many times have you seen one of those "Feel Good" movies where a person does some sort of kind-hearted/"Random act of kindness" gesture (like helping a homeless person or volunteering at a rest home) and you've wanted to do the same?

Or even if it was a bad thing, like you've just watched Fight Club and wanted to go out and beat the crap out of someone.

I know we all get into movies and many of us have been inspired to do things, I know I ALWAYS feel like doing something special when I see a "Feel Good" movie..or I've been super-charged into doing some sort of crazy stunt from an action flick, but once the movie is over, I tend to lose the urge.

Everytime I see a movie with an animal in it, I just want to go out and get another pet. I was just watching "My bosses daugther" and I SO want an Owl badly!!!!! :D

Has anyone felt that urge and had the ambition to actually go through with it?

Well, it's not a movie, but many paramedics and/or firefighters of a certain age will tell you they were inspired to take those jobs by watching Emergency!.

I remember a young boy who wanted to be an archeologist so he could carry a whip and fight Nazis for priceless artifacts.

Best Of The Best inspired me to years of martial arts training. Which gives me a good background when debunking "movie kung-fu".

Ok, it was really Revenge of the Ninja, but BOTB finally made me realise that not everything is camera trickery.:D

Pay it Forward....but then I thought that I'm never going to give a car to some guy off the street or let a bum sleep and eat in my house.

After watching Office Space, I had an urge to not go to work one day, go fishing instead, and then bring the fish back to my cubicle at work and gut it. Oh man that would be awesome. I did skip work to go fishing one day, but I couldn't bring myself to bring my catch to work :frowning:

I forgot to mention, that I've pulled a few Randall(Clerks) moves since I work in a video store. The customers didn't seem to pleased, but the people I worked with find it funny. And believe it or not...no one complained yet, although they did seem a bit pissed.

There are lots of things I'd love to do from movies, but it's true that you'd probably get arrested more so than just have people laugh at you. Ferris Bueller is a perfect example. Who wouldn't LOVE to get away with the things he did?

I just remembered, I loved the movie "Armed and Dangerous" with John Candy. There's a scene where he reports to guard duty and Virgil (the mean guard) is yelling at him, making sure he knows what to do...He says something like: "do you understand" and John Candy says (with a goofy face and a stupid voice) "Duh, yeah I think so" - :D It was very funny, so when I was working in a kitchen of a hospital, my supervisor was training me on a new job and she asked if I understood...I (of course) thought it would be funny to do the same John Candy line...She didn't think it was as funny as I did. :b

Almost anything with someone getting in shape. Esp. Rocky. Never had the urge to go and beat up big pieces of meat in a freezer though. :)

I've always had a desire to jump off a cliff, wriggling my legs around while falling, and land safely in a river or lake. I think I've seen this is several films. Most notably that 1990s version of the Jungle Book.

Only catch is that I cannot swim. :D

X-Men always makes me wish I had foot long razorblades that extended from my forearms.

After watching the fight scenes in all three of the Matrix movies, I've wanted to go through martial arts training. Knowing that the lead actors went through at least a year of martial arts training for all three movies combined inspires me more.
