I remember a movie. It was a lawyer who defends a client for murder. In the end he finally gets him off and then finds out that his client did in fact do it. I know this may open a bunch of movies, but I'm trying to find this one in particular. I think the male lead, (the attorney), was someone like Richard Gere or Alec Baldwin, along those lines.

Sounds like you are talking about Primal Fear. It starred Richard Gere and Ed Norton. Pretty good movie known mostly for being Norton's first and breakthrough performance.

Thanks, I think you're right and I'll give it a rent. Been a long time since I saw it, obviously, since I forgot the name.

Another possibility is Just Cause with Sean Connery and Blair Underwood, assuming the lead is not Richard Gere.

The book Primal Fear by William Diehl was excellent. It gives a lot of backstory on how Norton's character grew up.
