I would like to mount my psb alphas on the front wall
and wondered what the minimum distance from the wall would
be recommended as they are rear ported and I need to buy brackets. Is 3-4 inches to close?

Minimum distance to the wall for a rear ported speaker is about 1 foot, which is why I don't recommend mounting this type (rear ported bookshelf) of speaker on the wall. You can plug the port, but you will lose a bit of efficency and bass. I would use stands. Is there a specific reason for wall mounting the mains?
