I just indulged by buying the latest single from teh soundtrack to be released in Australia - COME WHAT MAY.
It has 4 versions of Come What May (Josh Abrahams Radio Edit; David Foster LP version; Josh Abrahams LP Version; and the film version - the latter was my main reason for buying it).
However, it also contains an instrumental/karoake mix of the ELEPHANT LOVE MEDLEY.
Not sure if it's getting released anywhere but here.

Just got back from seeing MR for a third time this evening (and hope to get at least one more in next week). Sent you an e-mail Christine... :)

Not that I didn't know better, but I picked up the soundtrack yesterday and was SEVERELY disappointed. Couldn't they have pulled some of these songs that are in there hardly at all and put them on an entirely different album? There are major and minor numbers not on it, but they found room for "Rhythm of the Night" and "Diamond Dogs". (Sorry Beck, I love your stuff, but I could have waited for this one.)
I really wish "The Show Must Go On" was on it (which I was glad it was in the film since it seemed like a logical choice).
I've only seen the film twice but want to see it again. As a curious aside, I've been surprised how many guys like this film a lot.

To say nothing of Spectacular Spectacular, or Like a Virgin.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a second ful length CD.

When I saw this movie last week I said to my wife this will make a great DVD!
The movie just rushes by so fast, you need the DVD format to really sit down and enjoy it over and over.
I hope they do a bang-up job on the release.

I don't care much for the soundtrack, but I've got to have a cigarette after the video, and I don't even smoke.

I only just saw this movie last night, and loved it. I went to check out the soundtrack before I bought it, and find that it DOES NOT contain "Heroes", The Show Must Go On or Like A Virgin. What's the point, those were some of the best songs in the film? Rights problems? Guess I'll have to wait for OST 2 to be released...

Rhythm of the Night was the biggest dissapointment on the soundtrack. It didn't fit in at all.

Loved the movie, but the first 20 minutes kill me. I find them hard to watch.

OK, thanks for your replies re "Heroes", guys, guess I'll have to go to a record shop and give it a listen on my lunch break...I had just checked the track listing online and it didn't mention that song...

Mikael, that's probably because "Heroes" isn't included in it's entirety. It's just a few lines from the song as part of the "Elephant Love Medley", the way it was in the film.
I, personally, was disappointed to learn that "Come What May" isn't eligible for Oscar consideration.

Weel, I did listen to it on my lunch break, and I did buy it, and although it didn't have Like A Virgin or The Show Must Go On, it still kicks ass, IMHO. Listening to it it's almost like being in the theater again. I can't wait till I get this DVD...

Joel,
What was the reason for "Come What May" not being eligible for an Oscar nomination?
Hope you're still enjoying the single,
Christine

Christine,
Apparently it was written (but not used) for "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet", which makes it ineligible. Eligible songs have to be written for the films they appear in. Phooey.

Still love the single. :)

My personal solution for the lack of a second soundtrack cd (though I do keep my fingers crossed...) - as soon as I get the DVD, I'm recording the movie to MiniDisc. My own personal 2-disc soundtrack!

Definitely hoping for a second official release, however...they did it with Romeo + Juliet, so ya never know.
