"is it about the eye?"
-Leela from Futurama
Not that I don't believe the story but... this statement I don't agree with:
What's so hard about putting doctored pics onto a flash memory card? Sure, it would take some serious photoshopping to create the pics and probably a knowledge of picture formats, but I'd say it's far from impossible.
In fact.. I'm going to go make a one-eyed dog on my digital camera right now.
Mother and father can be seen here
wow that was a real EYE opener
The story goes on to say that there were pics from different perspectives and that they were in the camera's original format.
I don't know what that last statement really means, since I thought a jpg is a jpg, no matter where it resides, but I don't know.
Also note two other items. The article is quoting an AP Regional Photo Editor, who I would hope would have a level of expertise above mine. Also stated is that she has the deceased kitten in the freezer and will give it to science, if they want it. If its a hoax, that's quite a bluff.
I'll also note that there is even a scientific name, mentioned in the article for this general condition. My wife and I have adopted 2 cats that were born without eyes, so we know things can go wrong.
And Holoprosencephaly exists....
Thinking, that would make one kick-ass word in Hangman..
That definition in the link fits the picture. That's one more thing in favor of this being for real. Not only is there just one eye, if you look at the rest of the kittens face, you can see the nose and mouth area are not properly formed either.
This is great! More mercury in the water! More sludge in the soil! More toxins in the air! I love when we do this. You can't rightly say that we humans are constantly causing extinctions, because, lookit, we're also creating exciting new species! I'm pretty excited, at least. Here kitty, kitty!
Mark, you naughty boy!
I will have to clean my monitor now!
CLAUDE: I'd like to point out that this tape has not been tampered with or edited in any way. It even has a timecode on it, and those are very hard to fake.
JUDGE: For the benefit of the court, would you please explain "timecode"?
CLAUDE: Just because I don't know what it is ...doesn't mean I'm lying.
The camera's original format may mean TIFF which includes metadata about the picture source among other things. I'm sure that can be faked with the right tools though.
Right next to the frozen pretzels and ice cream.....
You're thinking too hard Stathis could just be dumb and actually believe that just because the photos are on the memory card, it MUST mean they are the original snap shots.
Wait, doesn't this reply belong in the Thread asking what bachelor's make for dinner?
