3800 on December 6th 2002.....

Just discovered this interesting fact while I was trying to put the current number of 35,000 members in some context.
I wonder what the big excitement was on 12-06-02????

Anyway, thats pretty amazing to have over 10% of us here at one time!

Some 80% of you are newbies to me. And I'm just a latecomer to the other 7,000 or so that rushed through the door right after Mike Knapp. ;)

I'm in the library right now, waiting for my car to be repaired, and where did I want to check in?

Here.

hi jim,

that peak last december came when HTF went national with a hyperlink appearing in a hot-nerdy science news webblog site after, IIRC, Ron Epstein reviewed a Tolkien or Star Wars movie.

Actually the /. was before this feature was added. That was about 23,000+ people online at once.

I am not exactly sure of the review that Ron did but that is were the extra traffic came from on that day. Actually we have had other days were the traffic numbers are up there and there is nothing special going on with the forum.
Some days are just busy for no particular reason.

My review of Lord of the Rings shut this
board completely down when a major website advertised
it, and thus, promoted an onslaught of viewers.
