XM SATELLITE RADIO TO EXPAND LINE-UP OF XM2GO PORTABLE, HAND-HELD SATELLITE RADIOS IN 2005

Pioneer and Tao to Offer New XM2go Radios This Spring

Las Vegas, Nev. and Washington D.C., January 05, 2005 -- XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: XMSR), the country's number-one satellite radio service with more than 3.2 million subscribers, today announced that Pioneer Electronics and Tao will offer the newest models of the hugely popular XM2go portable satellite radios.

XM introduced the world's first personal, hand-held satellite radio in December 2004 with the Delphi MyFi XM2go radio, which was named one of the year's best consumer electronics products by USA Today and BusinessWeek magazine, and proved to be one of the hottest-selling entertainment products of the 2004 holiday season.

XM is expanding the XM2go product line with new models by Pioneer and Tao, which will arrive at retail stores in spring 2005. Pioneer is one of the world's most renowned manufacturers of consumer electronics, and Tao is a much-anticipated new consumer brand being launched by Giant International.

"The XM2go category has quickly established a new standard for portable audio, and the addition of Pioneer and Tao to the product lineup will make XM2go, the newest portable audio format, even more popular in 2005," said Daniel Murphy, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Distribution, XM Satellite Radio.

Each brand in the XM2go product line-up offers a compact, hand-held XM receiver with a built-in XM antenna and rechargeable battery, plus a large number of accessories, including headphones, car cradle, home docking station, belt clip, remote control, and other components to enjoy XM's 130-plus digital radio channels on the go, in the car, or at home. The Pioneer and Tao XM2go radios are each expected to have an MSRP of $349.99.

Each XM2go model has its own unique look and feel. All of the XM2go brands allow users to enjoy XM Radio's Ultimate PlayList of 80,000 hours of fresh programming every month in two ways: a "live" listening mode and a time-shifting "memory" mode. The live mode enables users to listen live to XM's commercial-free music channels and wide variety of premier news, sports, talk, entertainment, traffic and weather channels. The time-shifting memory mode - called "My XM" - allows users to store five hours or more of XM's outstanding content with the press of a button, even when the unit is not in use. In addition to displaying the names of artists and songs played on XM Radio, the XM2go products display stock quotes and sports scores chosen by the user.

More choices are sure to drop the prices on these portables - I can't wait! I'm getting tired of only being able to listen to Opie & Anthony on the XM internet feed.

Will Sirius be coming out with something like this as well?
It seems that XM (so far) is the only company interested in going portable.
