DVD FILE just reported that the new vacation disc in august will have 2 seperate audio commentaries, the only slightly bad news the disc is 1.0 mono, they could at least have done 2.0 stereo.

Was the original soundtrack mono? If so, than no biggie.

I can't wait to place this along-side Caddyshack and Fletch :)

This is what I love about WB. Yes, they have some annoying policies like the snappers and no DTS, but they treat nearly every catalog title with respect. Last month it was One Crazy Summer which had a very nice transfer and a commentary with Savage Steve, Booger, and Bobcat. And now Vacation gets TWO commentaries, including one that reunites the cast. Plus the $19.95 retail price is appealing.

As far as the mono track, that's how it was originally shown in theaters, plus the European Vacation DVD was released the same way. No biggie.

What's funny is Strange Brew and One Crazy Summer (haven't gotten European Vacation yet) are both single-side, single-layer and had room for pan-and-scan versions, but they didn't include one!

Sounds great! One less non-OAR title on DVD...

Warner also said that Vegas Vacation and Christmas Vacation would get OAR re-releases, FYI.

Will the new DVD come in metallic pea?

Can't wait. Great to see more non-OAR titles corrected. Bring em on WB.

According to someone at the fletchwon.net board, there will also be six 2-minute featurettes - including on the cast and the car.

Also the City Slickers II DVD with commentary by Daniel Stern and Jon Lovitz. The MGM DVD of the first movie is barebones. Now if only someone could REVIEW the CSII DVD...

I might later, but for right now I'll boil it down simple and easy...Good transfer...nice audio (5.1 DD)...decent extras (commentary, behind the scenes stuff, and a trailer.)

Pretty nice package, and affordable too!

Oh yeah, I can't wait for the Vacation re-release! YAY!

I just bought my Walley World t-shirt....which oddly enough costs more than the DVD!

I had never heard about the 20 minute alternate ending either. It sounds absolutely hilarious. It probably won't make it to the DVD, but I'm still holding out hope.
