I think these are the most impressive shots I've seen of this game so far. I wonder if all of those asteroids move independently.

60 FPS? Not in any of the video footage I have seen. And YES, I know that NTSC does not display 60 frames per second (30) but on video that I have seen it does not even run at 30 FPS.
It still looks great, but it is no where near a liquidy smooth 60 frames per second.

Sean;
What video(es) are you talking about? Quicktime files from the Internet? Everything I've heard about the game indicates that it does run at 60 FPS, let alone 30.
Just wonderin'.

Bah! No way I'm dropping money on a Game Cube just for one game when Zelda looks like garbage. I'm sure this will be released for some other platform (PC, PS2, Xbox) at some point. I loved RS1 and would love to get this, but it's going to have to wait...a while.

RS2=GCN exclusive (and I mean the true definition of exclusive)
It won't be on anything else.
And Zelda doesn't look like crap. Visually, the game is quite stunning. It is the BEST cel shading I have ever seen and seems to be done to perfection. It might look childish in that minute or two of footage we saw, but I think it looks like it will be fun and I know the gameplay will be great.
I assume you think Zelda looks like crap solely because they don't show Link as a big buff guy who kicks butt and takes names. The series isn't "growing up" and never was supposed to (its up to Shigeru as to when that happens).

Link didn't look like a "buff guy" in the 64 series either. I don't like the direction that Zelda's going and ever since the change in Zelda from the GC demo last year to what we saw last month, my attitude towards the system has changed. I bought an N64 for Zelda, and now I'm NOT buying a GC because of Zelda. Problem is, Rogue Leader isn't enough for me to fork over money when I have Halo on the XBox.
I suggest you look at:
Link Removed
and see EXACTLY what we were promised, and now what we're getting, right under the "Hyrule Time Vol. 2" headline. The difference is staggering.
Instead of bringing Link and the Zelda series "to life", Nintendo decided to turn its back on the fans and make Zelda something to laugh at.

Since when did Nintendo say anything in that video was real? They even said it was just a demo of what the GCN was capable of. They NEVER promised it.
I think the game will come out fine. Graphically, its quite stunning, and it will play just as good, if not better, than the N64 games.

For all I care, they can make Zelda out of stick figures. As long as it has great gameplay and a good story, I'm all over it.
Am I in the minority with cel-shading? I love the look of it! If Zelda is cel-shaded, I am all for it. Ever since playing Jet Grind Radio, I want more games with this type of look. I know I can't wait for the GC versions of Cel Damage and Jet Set Radio Future.

I agree 100%.
I'm not a cel-shading fan, but as long as it's done well, I'm all for it.
ICO, Rogue Leader, and some other non-cel-shaded games have actually used it for effects. I think its becoming less of a style and more of an effect.
But doesn't Zelda look GORGEOUS!!!

No, it looks stupid. If you look at the video from IGN.com essentially Zelda was made into a NickToon cartoon.
I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

Mike-
The first moment that video was available, I downloaded it and now have it on my computer. I can honestly say that the game LOOKS (as in graphics) gorgeous. You can't even tell that they used polygons because of how many there are and how well the cel-shading is done. The style of the game was pulled off great.
You might not like the way Link looks, but who cares? This game series is the one exception where the games are ALWAYS great, no matter what. I would normally stay away from games that look like I wouldn't like them from a visual standpoint, but this series is excused.
You haven't played the game, nor have you seen more than what, a few minutes of it? Who knows if the whole game will look that way or if the whole travel through time element will come back and the style will change? Even if it stays the way it is, it is a Zelda game, which means it will be a GREAT game, no matter what.
What did you want? Nintendo showed a video of what the GCN was capable of doing a year ago, but never promised anything. I don't want Link to get older and older and older because it will ruin the charm of the games. When Link is in his mid-20's, they will have to make the game more adult because it would just make more sense. I don't want an adult game, I want a fun game, no matter how childish it looks.

Morgan,
You haven't played it either, so how do you know how good or bad it will be? I hated Majora's Mask even though it "looked" the same as the far superior Ocarina of Time. Don't even get me started on the GameBoy versions.
As for the "preview" a year ago, why tease Zelda fans and then pull the rug from underneath them? If you saw the screenshots posted here of Rogue Leader, and then THAT turned into "cel shading", complete with silly animations and all, I'd bet that people would feel the same way.
I was pumped for Zelda when I saw last year's preview. Now that I see what they're doing with it, I'm going to pass. Saying that Nintendo never promised anything isn't an excuse to like Zelda for what it's going to be. I still don't like it. It looks childish. It's a Nickelodeon cartoon wrapped up with Looney Tunes physics. Sorry, but after the serious tone of the last Zeldas, I'm not keen to playing a comedy.

Sorry to be off topic but I have to comment on this Zelda thing. I for one don't like the new look but give Nintendo this, at least the are trying to come up with something different. I'd much rather be complaining about Zelda being too different rather than too much like an old version. Actually my favorite version of Zelda was the second one (the one with the side scrolling view) so I'm up for something new. A FPS version of Metroid on the other hand....

. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Mike-
What didn't you like about Majora's Mask? It was made pretty much to make money, but I found it to be very good, as were the GameBoy games. If you had played the SNES and NES games, then you probably would have liked MM and the GB games more.
Nintendo NEVER screws their games up. I am unaware of them ever doing so, which is why I trust they won't screw up Zelda. Metroid is being done by a second party, so I'm not putting my hopes too high with that, but thats another story.
I think that while Zelda might not be what we were expecting, that doesn't mean we should hate it. The games never really started going in a more mature direction, so how can you say its going in the opposite direction now? To tell the truth, a mature direction would ruin the series. Miyamoto said that he was happier going with the style of the game as it is now than with what it was going for before.
If you watch that video from a year ago, it shows Ganon as he looks in Ocarina of Time. That means that this would be the only time when he appeared (visually) the same in more than one Zelda game. I consider that to be a stupid move, so I'm happy the game changed.
To tell the truth, Nintendo doesn't need to make their games mature. They are GOOD GAMES, no matter what.
I'm looking forward to Metroid and Zelda. We have seen barely anything from either game, so there's no telling how they will end up. I am confident in Nintendo.
Anyway, this should be in a different thread.

I totally agree with you. I hated the new Zelda game the first time I saw it. But after seeing it in motion I think it will be really cool. (he still reminds me of Hermie from rudolph)
