    Found this on USA Today's website. What surprised me the most was that there is going to be both a WS and Pan&Scan versions. This would be only the second time Paramount has released 2 versions of a movie, the other being Charlotte's Web. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

    Well, it obviously IS a sign of, not only things to come, but things that are already here. Can't blame Paramount for dipping their toes in the same water other studios are, but as long as they continue offering OAR, I'm okay with it. And what if I wasn't?

    even more interesting is that Grease is priced lower than Saturday Night Fever or Flashdance
    $ 19,95 vs $ 24,99

    All I care is that it is in OAR, Once again, maybe it will outsell its redheaded stepbrother when it hits the stores

    I wonder if the DVD will be feature-less since it's priced so low. [IMG]
    I sure hope not, since this is certainly one DVD that deserves great extras. If it was a Fox title it would surely have gotten the 5 [IMG] treatment a long time ago...
    Anyway...

    It's possible that Grease will be bare, as they've had troubles with music clearances and actors. Supplementary material would likely include both of these. I'll be very happy to get any supplements.

    Wonder if they'll at least stick on the stuff that's on the collector's VHS tape... pretty interesting interviews and such.

    Grease is the word.....

    The 19.95 price should be the M.A.P. for Grease.

    It would be a total bummer if they don't include the documentary from the VHS -- it was pretty darn fun. Maybe I was sleeping, but what additional music clearances would be involved there?

    yuck. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad that it's finally coming to DVD... but with such a long wait, I was expecting more than some interviews and a songbook. Commentary by Travolta and Newton-John and the VHS documentary... If Travolta co-hosts a Grease showing of TBS's Dinner and a Movie wearing his old leather jacket, I'm sure a reunion commentary with the Grease stars can't be that far out of sight.

    It's interesting to see that there will be a P&S version simply because this is one of the biggest offenders when it comes to Panning and Scanning. I can't watch it on cable simply because of the cutting off of people and scenery.

    I just hope, since this disc was allegedly mastered some time ago, that it'll be OAR and anamorphic...

    Paramount is clearly expecting many families to pick this up as there are a lot of kids who love this film, which is why they are releasing both versions. I know my 10 year old niece loves it, she's always trying to get me to watch it with her (something I have been lucky to avoid so far, I'm not a big fan of the film).

    From the times I've spotted this on cable (VH1, I think), this is no 'Harry Potter'; at all times it is very obvious that the 4:3 version is severely cropped from 'scope. I can't imagine giving any family this butchered version if I wanted them to appreciate the film.

    If that's the full extras list, I wish there was more, but I also don't mind that they aren't $29.95.

    Tell me...WHY can't they just pay the money that would clear the music rights, and agree to the terms that would settle the actor problems?
