The Digital Bits is reporting that The Best of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello: Volume 2 will arrive 5/4. I have to admit that is much faster than I expected. :)

When I spoke with Lou Costello's daughter Chris recently at a screening of Hold That Ghost, she said that ALL the Abbott & Costello films will be on DVD by the end of 2004!:emoji_thumbsup:

Since they have skipped IT AIN'T HAY, I hope Universal works out the rights issue and it too will eventually be released.

On a hopeful note, a friend of mine who works in restoration noticed that Universal had the negative for LOST IN ALASKA in for a hi def transfer. Since I feel this film is among the team's worst Universal efforts, it does bode well for the tranfers, as I have the prerecorded tape of ALASKA, so they could have merely used that transfer.

I hope this may mean the Universal horror sets will be upgraded.

I love THE NAUGHTY NINETIES. It's loaded with routines - including, of course, "Who's On First"! :)

The LD boxset of "Abbott & Costello Comedy Collection" has some great outtakes from "Buck Privates Come Home and Hit the Ice."

Maybe we'll be lucky and they'll include them.

The LD of "Africa Screams and Jack and the Beanstalk," though not Universal releases, have some great outtakes...so far no one has taken taken the time to do them justice. Maybe because they're PD?
